RANSEL BUKU — CHILD FRIENDLY and LEARNING CENTRE — Central Kalimantan

The Foundation recently donated books to  Ransel Buku a educational project that brings environmental education through books reading, leading group discussions and games to children at river bank villages in Central Kalimantan. This project runs by the support of village elders, parents, fellow volunteers, professional photographer David Metcalf, donors and others who believe that it is the responsibility of everybody to support access to education for better future.

Floating Library

There are many more villages on the Kahayan and Rungan River who face similar challenges as the pilot village at Kelurahan Petuk Katimpun. They are determined to also bring Ransel Buku service to the children of these remote villages. In July 2016, Bank Indonesia, granted their wish by funding the building process of traditional wooden boat (kelotok) as our floating library. This boat has been  in service since January 2017.
