Day for Girls in Timor Leste Refugee Camp in Nulle Village, West Timor, Indonesia

On the 4th and 12th June 2021, Day for Girls hosted events in the refugee tent of Timor Leste in Nulle Village.

The activity started with education about adolescent reproductive health and sexually transmitted disease aimed at improving awareness of the importance of maintaining reproductive health for girls and reproductive women in refugee tent.

The first session, education topic was delivered by Devi Handayani (midwife coordinator of FMCH Indonesia). The second session was delivered by Dr. Yusri from Puskesmas Nulle. The teenagers who were unable to join the activity due to school commitments were represented by their parents. The events were conducted again for their benefit on 12 June 2021. In this activity, FMCH Indonesia also gave them education about menstruation and how to use and care the Day for Girls kits. After the explanation from the trainer, the participant also asked them to practice together. So today’s training could be applicable, benefit, and sustain for all girls and women in the Timor Leste refugee tent.
