This term there have been some challenges for the VTC computer class in Cipanas. One of those challenges was that the VTC classes started during the month of Ramadhan, where it is the custom for Indonesians to spend more time with family and return to their hometown. This caused the number of students signed up for Computer Class to slightly drop, when in comparison to the previous term.
The other challenge was the introduction of the FDS (Full Day School) system, which means students stay at school until 3pm. Not all students live nearby YUM, so this makes it difficult for them to attend the afternoon classes on the weekdays. Parents also did not approve to have classes later in the evening, as it meant the students would arrive home too late after class. The solution to this issue was to hold the classes on the weekends. Luckily, our dedicated teachers have agreed to this arrangement.
There were 25 students enrolled in this class, and they came from different schools in the area. There were 14 boys and 11 girls. The class took place every Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 12 pm. At the end of the term, 21 students received the certificates with satisfactory grades; which is between 80 – 85.
None of the achievement above could happened without generous support from Priscilla Hall Memorial Foundation
