On October 19th, Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM) Board of Patrons Olvia Reksodipoetro and Don Hall from Priscilla Hall Memorial Foundation (PHMF) reminisced on their first project together 10 years ago! The meeting was also attended by Vanessa Reksodipoetro, Executive Director of YUM, and Yolanda Nilasari, Donor Relations Coordinator, as well as Frances Hall.
YUM and PHMF have had a fantastic relationship, which started in 2008 when David Adams visited the YUM site in Cipanas, West Java. Back then, YUM’s dormitories, hall and library were desperately in need of repairs due to major damages and time. At that time, the facilities were used as an orphanage, taking care of 50 children from the surrounding areas. With support from PHMF, renovations started in June 2008 and the dormitories were ready to use again in February 2009.
Today, 10 years later, these dormitories are still standing but their function has changed. The YUM Cipanas site has become a community center, offering various education, health and community development projects to close to 4,000 people. Since the dorms are no longer used as an orphanage, it now houses volunteers, visitors or students who participate in YUM’s edutourism program, engaging with YUM’s projects and beneficiaries. PHMF has been an amazing partner of YUM in many ways possible. Not only with funding support but also with great ideas and suggestions which have improved YUM’s projects. We are extremely grateful at having not only a donor but also a partner who always give us tremendous guide in running our projects. We hope that everyone at PHMF is always in good health and we look forward to continuing our future partnership. Thank you!
